Injury Diagnosis & Treatment

The diagnostic process begins with a conversation with you about how the injury occurred. Following an assessment, a comprehensive management plan including short and long term rehab goals will be discussed with you.

Kinetics is a collaborative clinic, with a wide network of other medical professionals that we can refer to. This may include medical imaging or if deemed necessary, referral to specialists.  We also have expertise in fitting of custom knee bracing for injury management or prevention.  These top end knee braces are designed for high level sport including skiing, motocross and more.

Our team have a focus on injury prevention so that goal is not to simply reduce pain. With a focus on reducing the risk of recurrent injury, the latter phase of rehab can include gym based exercise or other support.

VALD Force Plate Technology

Kinetics has always aimed to be at the cutting edge of our profession.  Recently our two clinics have acquired VALD Force Plate technology to assist with injury assessment, diagnosis and return to sport testing.  These digital ‘scales’ have thousands of data points that can accurate evaluate everything from strength, balance, power, landing strategies and differences between an injured or uninjured limb.

Our staff have developed a Return to Sport testing protocol that will be used as part of our Careway Surgical Rehabilitation programmes.  Orthopaedic surgeons, specialists and other physiotherapists will be able to refer clients post-surgically for these tests to safely predict a return to sport.

Game Ready ice & compression

Kinetics AUT Millennium has a Game Ready ice and compression machine that is used for acute injury management, and in helping those with post-operative pain.  This technology was originally used in the elite sporting environment, with our staff using Game Ready alongside the NZ Breakers Basketball team.

Game Ready sessions can be booked independently on a casual basis or it may be used as part of a physiotherapy consult.

TeleHealth Consulting

Our staff are well versed in remote video-based telehealth consulting and have been using this form of ‘treatment’ since early 2020. Other than hands on therapy our ‘Injury diagnosis & treatment’ process is exactly the same.

We believe that accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans can be established in this way, so as not to delay or hinder your recovery. Our software is encrypted and we have video-based exercise programmes that can be emailed to you. We are also able to measure and fit a variety of knee braces, moonboots and other equipment that can be funded through ACC.

Pelvic Health Physiotherapy

Kinetics Whangaparaoa offers pelvic health physiotherapy thanks to Emily‘s recent post-graduate training.  Pelvic health dysfunction can cause groin, hip or lower back pain.  It can also result in incontinence when exercising or doing daily activities.  It is particularly common after childbirth.

Emily is able to provide this service in conjunction with a musculoskeletal case load.  This means she maintains a strong connection between pelvic health retraining and your overall physical function.  Emily has developed her knowledge in this field alongside some of the top pelvic health specialists and physiotherapists around Auckland.

Please note – longer appointment times and additional paperwork are required for this service.  At times this service may be limited so there may be a longer waiting list.  If you have challenges that you believe may be related to pelvic health then get in touch today!
