The best rehabilitation starts with an accurate diagnosis. This is the beginning of our process following which our team follow evidence based best practice to help you get back to doing what you love.
Injury Diagnosis & Treatment
The diagnostic process begins with a conversation with you about how the injury occurred. Following an assessment, a comprehensive management plan including short and long term rehab goals will be discussed with you.
Kinetics is a collaborative clinic, with a wide network of other medical professionals that we can refer to. This may include medical imaging or if deemed necessary, referral to specialists. We also have expertise in fitting of custom knee bracing for injury management or prevention. These top end knee braces are designed for high level sport including skiing, motocross and more.
Our team have a focus on injury prevention so that goal is not to simply reduce pain. With a focus on reducing the risk of recurrent injury, the latter phase of rehab can include gym based exercise or other support.

Sports Injury Experts
Our staff have a wide range of experience with a number of sporting organizations, from club all the way up to international level. Our clinic at AUT Millennium is positioned at the heart of high level sport and many of New Zealand’s top athletes are seen by our clinicians. That being said we believe that no matter what level of activity you enjoy, helping you get back to what you love is our priority.
These are some of the sports organizations that our staff have or continue to work alongside:
- Championship winning New Zealand Breakers Basketball
- Warriors Rugby League (touring physiotherapist)

Our mentality is that no matter what level of sport you participate at, the same level of assessment, treatment and management plan will be implemented. From Office worker to Olympian our staff are there to help you get back to doing what you love.
Shockwave Therapy
Kinetics has been using Shockwave Therapy since 2016 and principal physio David was one of the early adopters of this technology. He has presented at seminars both nationally and internationally on the clinical application of Shockwave. Radial shockwave therapy is used to treat non-responsive and stubborn tendon, soft tissue and connective tissue injuries.
The primary conditions that our staff treat with Shockwave include:
- Achilles tendinopathy
- Plantar heel pain
- Tennis elbow
- Hamstring tendinopathy
- Patellar tendinopathy
VALD Force Plate Technology
Kinetics has always aimed to be at the cutting edge of our profession. Recently our two clinics have acquired VALD Force Plate technology to assist with injury assessment, diagnosis and return to sport testing. These digital ‘scales’ have thousands of data points that can accurate evaluate everything from strength, balance, power, landing strategies and differences between an injured or uninjured limb.
Our staff have developed a Return to Sport testing protocol that will be used as part of our Careway Surgical Rehabilitation programmes. Orthopaedic surgeons, specialists and other physiotherapists will be able to refer clients post-surgically for these tests to safely predict a return to sport.
Game Ready ice & compression
Kinetics AUT Millennium has a Game Ready ice and compression machine that is used for acute injury management, and in helping those with post-operative pain. This technology was originally used in the elite sporting environment, with our staff using Game Ready alongside the NZ Breakers Basketball team.
Game Ready sessions can be booked independently on a casual basis or it may be used as part of a physiotherapy consult.
TeleHealth Consulting
Our staff are well versed in remote video-based telehealth consulting and have been using this form of ‘treatment’ since early 2020. Other than hands on therapy our ‘Injury diagnosis & treatment’ process is exactly the same.
We believe that accurate diagnoses and effective treatment plans can be established in this way, so as not to delay or hinder your recovery. Our software is encrypted and we have video-based exercise programmes that can be emailed to you. We are also able to measure and fit a variety of knee braces, moonboots and other equipment that can be funded through ACC.
